Pastor. Peter (HoKyoung) Choi
Pastor. Peter (HoKyoung) Choi is a Christ-centered, compassionate, dedicated, well-listening, and visionary individual with a variety of ministry experiences in academic, clinical, and pastoral settings for 20 years.
He was born and raised in South Korea. He comes from a family of deep-rooted Methodist pastors, and felt called to enter pastoral ministry for the service of Korea Army, as a military chaplain assistant. He was ordained in the Americas Annual Conference of Korean Methodist Church in April 2015, as an elder. He is married to Lena (Dukjin) Kim and they have two children, Chloe and Hailey.
He previously served, as a pastor, at Emmanuel Mission Korean Methodist church, America Wheat Mission, Bethany Korean United Methodist church, First Korea Methodist church of N.Y., Han-Maum Korean Presbyterian church, Pyeong-Kang Korean Methodist church, Seoboo-joongang Korean Methodist church, and Kwangseong Korean Methodist church. He has experienced at a Hospital, as a chaplain for about 10 months and Korea Army, as a chaplain assistant for about 1 years.
He has a Master of Divinity from Drew Theological Seminary and is finishing a Master of Arts in Religion (Pastoral Care) at Drew Theological Seminary. He has a Master of Theology (Church History) and Bachelor of Theology from Mokwon University. He completed Clinical Pastoral Education Level 1 (32 Week Extended Unit) at Overlook Medical Center in NJ. He served at the 701 Special Assault in Korea Army for twenty-six months.
